Matthew DeVine will perform solo versions of songs by Matthew DeVine, Downright, David Bowie, The Flaming Lips, Wilco, Jeff Buckley, Gillian Welch, Radiohead, The Beatles, Beck, Bob Dylan and many many more.  He will wear a navy pea coat and grow a beard for this occasion and then request that the air conditioner in the club be set to 50 degrees fahrenheit.  So dress accordingly.

Don’t miss Downright as the musical grand finale of the  Do Dah Day Festival in Caldwell Park in Birmingham on Saturday, May 21st.  Lot’s of great acts precede us so come out early.  Our show should start around 5 p.m.

Don’t miss Moniker this Friday, May 13 at Secret Stages.   12:00 midnight at Steel in Downtown Birmingham.  What a great idea!  A walking festival with music indoors at night.  Thank you for reading our minds!  Check out secretstages.net for more info.

Moniker is a new band from Birmingham, AL. Their unique spin on electronica, jungle beat, jazz, funk and fusion results in hip-shaking music for the dance lover and musical depth for the connoisseur. Drummer Allen Aucoin (The Disco Biscuits), bassist Aaron Goldberg (Skydog Gypsy) and keyboardist / guitarist Matthew DeVine (Downright) formed the band to explore a common love of instrumental music that is consistently thought provoking but also beat-heavy and always danceable. Synth-driven melodies, hypnotic grooves, lush chordal pads, electronic effects, samples and loops give the music a fresh modern edge while stellar musicianship, artistic sensibility and compositional prowess hearken back to classical music, 1970′s fusion and even 1950′s or 1960′s jazz. The band is focused on giving it’s listeners an enjoyable and highly original musical experience and they hope you’ll come along for the ride!

Thanks to Jamtrak for focusing on charity for the oil spill victims as well as recent storm victims in the Southeast.  More storm relief concerts connected with Jamtrak are in the works.   Excited to be involved in a good cause at a time like this.  Thanks to everyone who has helped put it together.  If you aren’t on it this year, then make plans for next year!  See you in the Big Easy!
